Rebekah Gilbert is a singer-songwriter, poet, and storyteller whose music and writing offer a unique blend of vulnerability, introspection, and hope. Since 2009, her creative voice has resonated with listeners who crave emotional honesty and meaningful connection. Known for her thought-provoking lyrics and deeply personal narratives, Rebekah invites listeners into a world where darkness and light exist side by side. Her soulful, intimate vocals — often described as “a warm light in a dark room” — turn every performance into a quiet journey of reflection, resilience, and renewal.

Rebekah’s artistic path began in 2009, when she first started sharing her writing on her now-former blog, A New Song to Sing. What began as a space for personal expression quickly evolved into a catalyst for her storytelling. The lyrical sensitivity she honed through blogging and poetry naturally transitioned into songwriting, where she discovered a deeper, more immersive way to connect with her audience. Her style blends the observational grace of poetry with the emotional honesty of Americana music, creating songs that feel both deeply personal and universally understood.

In 2012, Rebekah released her debut EP, Captured, marking her first official step into the songwriting world. Over the years, she continued writing and developing her sound, but it wasn’t until a decade later that she returned to releasing music with new clarity and direction. "Happy Place" (2022) and "You Are Loved" (2023) signaled a new creative era — one defined by growth, emotional depth, and a willingness to explore complex themes with unflinching honesty.

Her artistic evolution expanded further in 2024 with the release of her first poetry collection, Poems from the Back Pew: A Journey from Faith to Doubt and Beyond. Paired with the companion EP Year of Jubilee, this dual release explored Rebekah’s gradual departure from the religious environment she was raised in. Though leaving religion is only one part of her story, it influenced her dedication to self-discovery, authenticity, and personal freedom. The combination of poetry and music created an immersive experience, offering readers and listeners a raw, introspective look at her transformation — not as a destination, but as an ongoing journey toward clarity and wholeness.

A defining moment in Rebekah’s musical development came in her 40s, when she committed fully to becoming a guitarist. Through taking two lessons per week for six years, she built her skill with determination and focus. This late-blooming path into musicianship became part of her artistic identity — a testament to reinvention, dedication, and the belief that it is never too late to pursue what calls to you.

In 2025, Rebekah is stepping into her boldest musical chapter yet. With a haunting cover of “Crazy” and her EP Secret Keeper, she has expanded her sound with more grit, more depth, and more emotional nuance than ever before. The new music dives into themes of desire, secrecy, identity, and the parts of ourselves we rarely name aloud, offering listeners something unmistakably intimate and uniquely hers.

Musically, Rebekah’s sound is rooted in Americana, drawing comparisons to the confessional lyricism of Patty Griffin, the soothing, moody tones of Norah Jones, and the emotive power of Brandi Carlile. Her songs speak to anyone who has navigated heartbreak, joy, loss, reinvention, or the long, winding process of coming home to oneself. Through both her music and her writing, she creates a space where listeners feel seen, understood, and encouraged to explore their own stories with honesty and compassion.

When she’s not writing, recording, or performing, Rebekah can often be found wrapped up in a good book, discovering new music, experimenting with makeup or style, or spending quiet moments with her beloved cat, Phoebe.
